Challenge

Due to recent significant natural gas market changes in the EU the existing enterprise application could not meet the increased demand, reorganized supply chains, increase in LNG role and many more. The decision is to develop a brand-new system from the ground up using modern technologies and flexible architecture capable of adopting to future changes.

Our team had an ambitious goal to develop the new platform for managing the supply of raw materials to multiple countries in the EU.

Approach

Product development involves integration with multiple third parties that help handling logistical challenges. Numerous integrations, complex processes, a huge number of operations in the same period, as well as a comprehensive analysis of a large amount of data motivated our team to rebuild and implement modern development technologies.
As part of the rebuilding of the existing system, a transition to an event-driven model took place. Thanks to all the improvements, we were able to fully cover the current needs of the customer, stabilize the platform, and adapt to peak loads. We also built business dashboards that allow the client to see near real time changes and be able to adapt to them.
Along with this, we can scale horizontally, we see a margin in performance with the current hardware capacities, which allows us to implement more complex/powerful algorithms, which in turn allows us to expand our business to other countries and increase revenues/profits.
A number of activities have been developed to improve the current monolithic architecture and transition to orchestration of microservices.
It is worth mentioning that with the new approach, development has become more flexible and on average 30% faster, and support maintenance costs have decreased.
After improving the CI / CD processes, it is now possible to release on daily basis and even more frequently with the risk of production issues reduced to almost zero.
The exponential growth in the number of deals is not a challenge any longer, which allows virtually unlimited future growth.
