Our client had a legacy system that processed stock transactions. The system was built to buy and sell different types of energy on EU and UK-Based Exchanges, transfer and deliver power in multiple Continental and UK power grids, including interconnectors between the UK and the Continent. The client’s system was 20 years old, and its algorithms have become quite old-fashioned and ineffective since then, which necessitated automation of the processes.
Power trading has been around for a long time, although its market is always in hustle and bustle. This is explained by the physical specifics of what is sold and purchased – power is produced in consumed instantly, it cannot be stored, so demand and supply must constantly be balanced in real-time.
Trading power is therefore so fast-paced, highly complex and volatile that manual handling of the transactions has become tedious and ineffective. The ever-rising number of transactions even add up to the complexity of the problem.
For this reason, automating trade execution has become a necessity to be able to keep up with time-critical transactions and allow for a bigger number of them without compromising on efforts made.
Facilitated handling of transactions and increased trade turnover
The client’s legacy system was built for employees to handle processes manually. The volumes of manual work included phoning clients, making deals, sending invoices, sending or submitting payments as well as generating reports. The number of deals per day was limited to 5,000, which hindered the whole workflow and didn’t let the client’s business move forward.
Our development team was challenged to create an algorithmic platform that would provide access for traders, algorithms and external companies to buy and sell energy within the EU and the UK territories. It must handle numerous trade transactions simultaneously, calculate power losses, send invoices, reserve capacities, report to grid owners, make thousands of deals quickly and perform other tasks automatically.
Algorithmic and manual power trading platform
Our team has built a platform to automate most of the manual tasks performed by engineers, accountants and other staff. The platform serves as a solid foundation for algorithmic trading, allowing the traders not to worry about the infrastructure that processes the financial and physical aspects of the power supply chains.
Working on the platform, our developers have leveraged the latest technologies to make it fast, robust and crash-proof. The platform is equipped with such a functionality that makes it so effective and indispensable for traders:
We are as passionate about technologies as traders are passionate about the market. For this reason, we take a meticulous approach to each project we undertake and drive growth and progress for the client’s business through technological innovation and skilled expertise.
Through in-depth discussions and meticulous analysis, we gather comprehensive requirements challenges, and goals of our client that form the foundation of the platform.
The solution we build can work flawlessly with other existing healthcare systems. Any updates or adjustments as well as further integrations will run smooth and bug-free.
We provide ongoing support, maintenance, and updates to ensure the platform's optimal performance and adaptability.
